How photobiomodulation works
Red light therapy is the therapeutic application of specific light wavelengths. The 660nm visible red component is absorbed near the surface and in the skin; the 850nm near-infrared component penetrates further, reaching muscle and joint tissue.
At the cellular level, mitochondria absorb this light and increase production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the energy currency cells use for repair and normal function. The published literature also associates photobiomodulation with improved local circulation, reduced oxidative stress, and modulation of the inflammatory response.
Safety and contraindications
Red light therapy is non-invasive and generally well tolerated; some people report temporary warmth or mild fatigue. As a precaution it is not recommended during pregnancy, over an area with active cancer, or alongside photosensitizing medications. Please consult your healthcare provider if you have a medical condition, and tell us before your session.

A community shaped by the outdoors
Prospertown is known for its scenic pine forests, natural landscapes, and rural, close-knit character. Residents spend their time hiking, fishing, and kayaking at Prospertown Lake and the surrounding wildlife management area — an active lifestyle that pairs naturally with a professional recovery practice.
Because Prospertown is largely unincorporated with few local wellness businesses, residents typically look to neighboring Jackson, Millstone, and Upper Freehold for health services. Our Howell studio offers something those routines often lack: clinical-grade, whole-body red light therapy.
Prospertown Lake
A freshwater lake and wildlife area popular for fishing, kayaking, and nature observation.
Prospertown Lake Wildlife Management Area
A 1,030-acre protected area for hiking and birdwatching, spanning Jackson and Upper Freehold Townships.
The historic crossroads
The center of Prospertown at CR 537, Hawkin Road, and Emleys Hill Road — near Six Flags Great Adventure.
Also serving Jackson Township, Plumsted Township, Upper Freehold Township, Millstone Township, and Cream Ridge.
Built for an outdoor lifestyle
The Prospertown residents we see tend to share a pattern. Their activity is not confined to a gym schedule — it is hiking the wildlife management area, fishing and kayaking at Prospertown Lake, and the ordinary physical work that comes with living on rural property. That kind of activity is excellent for health, but it accumulates: stiff joints in the morning, a lower back that complains after a long day, muscles that take longer to bounce back than they once did.
Whole-body photobiomodulation is well matched to that profile precisely because it is not targeted. A handheld device asks you to pick one sore spot; the NovoTHOR® treats everything at once. For someone whose whole body worked hard, that distinction is the practical one.
The community’s appreciation for nature and holistic well-being aligns closely with how this therapy works: gradually, without pharmaceuticals, and in support of the body’s own repair processes rather than in place of them.
