Red light therapy questions, answered honestly
Sky View Manor sits in the middle of one of the liveliest stretches of the Jersey Shore. Before you book an FDA-cleared NovoTHOR® session at our Howell studio, here is what people actually want to know.
Frequently asked questions
Open any question below. If something is not covered here, call us — we would rather answer it than have you guess.
What is red light therapy, in plain terms?
It is a non-invasive treatment, also called photobiomodulation, that exposes your body to specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light. Your cells absorb that light in their mitochondria and use it to produce more ATP — the energy the body spends repairing tissue and managing inflammation. Nothing is injected, nothing is heated, and no drugs are involved.
Where would I actually go from Sky View Manor?
Our studio is at Cherry Tree Plaza, 2350 Route 9 South, Howell, NJ 07731. There is free parking directly outside. It is a straightforward trip off the island and up Route 9, and you can plan the drive with the directions link further down this page.
Is the equipment FDA-cleared?
Yes. We use the NovoTHOR®, an FDA-cleared whole-body light therapy bed. It delivers 660nm red light and 850nm near-infrared light across your entire body in a single session, rather than treating one small area at a time with a handheld panel.
What does a session actually feel like?
Comfortable and quiet. You lie back in the bed and the light surrounds you. There is no stinging, no burning, and no loud machinery. Most people describe it as restful, and some find it a genuinely pleasant break in the day.
Is there UV exposure or any downtime afterward?
No UV at all — red and near-infrared light sit at the opposite end of the spectrum from the UV rays that cause sunburn. There is also no downtime. You can head straight back to the boardwalk, the beach, or work as soon as you are finished.
What do people around Seaside Heights use it for?
In a beach community, the most common reasons are muscle soreness and recovery after an active day, persistent aches and inflammation, skin health after a long season of sun and salt air, and sleep quality. Results vary by person, and red light therapy is supportive care rather than a cure for any condition.
How often should I come in?
Photobiomodulation rewards consistency more than intensity. Most people fold regular sessions into an existing routine and assess how they feel over several weeks rather than judging a single visit. We are happy to talk through a sensible cadence for your situation when you call.
Do I need to prepare anything beforehand?
Not much. Light works best on skin it can actually reach, so minimal clothing during the session gives the best coverage, and you will have privacy to change. If you take photosensitizing medication, are pregnant, or are being treated for a serious condition, check with your doctor first — we would always rather you ask.

Wellness in a boardwalk town
Sky View Manor and the greater Seaside Heights area keep an active, wellness-oriented culture, with residents outdoors along the beach and boardwalk year round. Local fitness options include gyms such as Retro Fitness and yoga studios in nearby Toms River, while health-conscious dining and juice bars sit along the boardwalk itself. The community is also served by medical facilities including Community Medical Center in Toms River.
Whole-body red light therapy fits that pattern: something you add to an already active life rather than a replacement for any of it.
