Red light therapy, elevated for an active life
Concordia has built its reputation on living well at every age. Our Howell studio meets that standard with FDA-cleared NovoTHOR® whole-body light therapy — premium, professional, and designed to support the vitality this community is known for.
Wellness worthy of a vibrant community
As a 55-and-better community in Middlesex County, Concordia is organized around staying engaged — golf at the Concordia Golf Club, laps and classes at the Clubhouse fitness center, matches on the tennis courts, and a full social calendar. Red light therapy is a natural addition to that lifestyle: a non-invasive way to support the body so residents can keep doing what they love.
None of that demand is incidental. A calendar built around golf, tennis, swimming and constant social activity asks a great deal of joints and connective tissue, and the residents who keep pace with it are usually the ones treating recovery as seriously as the activity itself.

Golf, tennis, and the joints that carry them
Four places carry most of Concordia’s daily life, and each one puts a specific, repeated demand on the body.
Concordia Golf Club
A well-known 18-hole course and social hub within the community, and for many residents the thing that gives the week its shape. A full round is hours of walking, rotation and repeated one-sided loading through the hips, lower back and lead shoulder.
Concordia Clubhouse
The community’s central clubhouse, with fitness facilities, swimming pools and space for social gatherings. It is where most formal exercise happens here, and where the limiting factor is rarely motivation — it is whether yesterday’s class left you able to do today’s.
Concordia Tennis Courts
Outdoor courts inside the residential area, supporting an active lifestyle year after year. Tennis is stop-start and lateral, demanding of knees, ankles and elbows, and it rewards players who treat recovery as seriously as they treat the match.
Concordia Shopping Center
A local plaza covering essential retail, dining and services. Errands are the part of the week nobody counts as activity, though standing, carrying and getting in and out of the car account for a real share of everyday stiffness.
A community that built its own fitness center
Concordia does something unusual: it supplies its own wellness infrastructure. A fitness center, indoor and outdoor pools, tennis courts and walking paths sit inside the community, and group exercise classes, wellness seminars and health-focused social clubs fill the calendar around them. Regular physical activity here is the default rather than the resolution.
What Concordia does not have within its own borders is large commercial gyms or health food stores. For those, and for medical facilities, pharmacies and broader wellness services, residents look to nearby Monroe Township. That habit — traveling a short distance for the thing worth having — is why a specialist studio on Route 9 fits the routine instead of interrupting it.
This is an active adult community with a diverse, engaged population and a genuinely full social and recreational life. The residents we see are not trying to start being active; they are trying to keep being active, which is a different problem and one that consistent recovery work is well suited to.
The science, simply put
The NovoTHOR® bed delivers therapeutic red (660nm) and near-infrared (850nm) light across your entire body at once. Those wavelengths are absorbed by the mitochondria inside your cells — the structures that generate energy — supporting the natural processes behind recovery, reduced inflammation, and healthy aging. There is nothing to take and nothing invasive; sessions are calm, quiet, and finish in minutes. As always, we describe these benefits honestly and never promise a cure.

Session by session, what changes
The first thing most people notice happens during the session itself: warmth, and a settled feeling that comes from improved local circulation rather than from any repair having taken place yet. Sleep tends to shift next, within the first handful of visits, because light is the primary signal your circadian system uses to set its timing.
The changes people actually come for — less stiffness rising from a chair, an easier back nine, stairs that stop announcing themselves — generally emerge across two to four weeks, because the effect accumulates with repeated exposure rather than arriving all at once. Two to three sessions a week is a common starting cadence, easing to weekly maintenance once things settle. Response varies genuinely between individuals, and we will not predict yours in advance.
Conversations to have with your doctor
Photobiomodulation is non-invasive and well tolerated, and it still deserves a check with whoever manages your care — particularly in a community where many residents take regular prescriptions. Ask before booking if you are on a photosensitizing medication, since certain antibiotics, acne treatments and other drugs raise the skin’s reaction to light.
The same applies during pregnancy, during treatment for an active malignancy, or with any condition that makes you sensitive to bright light. We describe these benefits honestly, never promise a cure, and will always tell you when a question belongs with your physician instead of with us.
