How it works
A simple, evidence-based process
Absorption
Therapeutic 660nm red and 850nm near-infrared light reaches the skin and underlying tissue across the whole body at once.
Cellular response
Mitochondria absorb the light and increase production of ATP, the energy currency your cells use to repair and function.
Recovery
Improved cellular energy supports reduced inflammation, better circulation and faster tissue recovery over a course of sessions.
Red light therapy is a wellness treatment, not a cure. It is not intended to diagnose or treat disease, and results vary from person to person.
What to expect
A session, described plainly
You are shown how the NovoTHOR bed operates and given the opportunity to ask questions before anything begins. You then lie down while the bed delivers light across the whole body simultaneously. There is no burning heat, no needles and no incision.
Treatment time is measured in minutes and no recovery period follows, so normal activity can resume immediately. Because photobiomodulation is cumulative, a course of regular sessions is generally more useful than a single appointment.
Suitability
Who tends to benefit
Adults across a wide range of circumstances: those managing persistent joint or muscle discomfort, people recovering between training sessions, anyone interested in skin quality, and those focused on healthy aging and everyday energy.
River Bank residents already engage with community fitness programs in Riverbank Park, local gyms and yoga studios, health-food stores and neighborhood clinics. Whole-body light therapy is a considered addition to that existing routine rather than a replacement for any part of it. If you are under medical care, keep your physician informed.

Answered directly
- Is red light therapy the same as a tanning bed?
- No. Tanning beds emit ultraviolet radiation to darken skin. Red light therapy uses visible red and near-infrared wavelengths, contains no UV, and is not intended to alter pigmentation.
- How many sessions before anything changes?
- Effects are cumulative rather than immediate. Most people establish a consistent schedule and assess how they feel across a series of sessions rather than judging by one appointment.
- Does it hurt, and is any recovery needed?
- No and no. The treatment is painless and non-invasive, and normal activity resumes immediately afterward with no restrictions.
- Can it replace my current treatment?
- It should not be treated as a replacement for medical care. Red light therapy is a complementary wellness treatment, and any condition under active management should remain with your physician.
The neighborhood
A community with deep roots
River Bank centers on its signature green space, the historic Riverbank Park, a ten-acre Olmsted-designed landscape dating to 1910 that still hosts the sports, recreation and community events that define the Ironbound. Nearby, the Jackson Street Bridge and the bustling Market Street Shopping District give the neighborhood its distinctive identity and its calendar of cultural festivals.
- Riverbank Park — Olmsted-designed fields, playgrounds and a hub for community events.
- Market Street Shopping District — diverse shops, restaurants and vibrant street life.
- Jackson Street Bridge — a recognizable local landmark near the park.
