A Wickatunk wellness journey

From the trails at Big Brook to the light bed in Howell

Wickatunk knows scenic landscapes and a strong sense of community. What it does not have is a whole-body red light bed, and that is the one part of the routine we can add. Here is exactly how starting works, stage by stage, with nothing skipped.

The four stages of getting started

  1. Start where you already are

Wickatunk is semi-rural and proud of it: open farmland, equestrian farms, quiet roads and a strong family-oriented character. Wellness here is not something you drive to a studio for. It happens on the trails at Big Brook Park, on the field with a local sports league, and out in the yard on a Saturday.

There are limited commercial gyms or health food stores directly in Wickatunk, so residents already travel to Marlboro and Colts Neck for fitness and wellness programs. Adding one more short trip for something genuinely different is an easy adjustment.

  2. Understand what you are signing up for

Red light therapy, properly called photobiomodulation, uses red light at roughly 660 nanometres and near-infrared light at roughly 850 nanometres. Those wavelengths are absorbed by mitochondria inside your cells, and research indicates the absorption supports ATP production, the energy your body spends on ordinary tissue repair.

Our device is the NovoTHOR®, an FDA-cleared whole-body bed rather than a small handheld panel. That difference matters: you are not treating one shoulder at a time, you are giving the whole body a consistent dose in one go.

  3. Your first twelve minutes

You arrive at our Howell studio, we walk you through the bed and answer whatever you want to ask, and then you lie down. The lights come on. Roughly twelve minutes later you are done. Nothing touches your skin, there is no UV, no needles, no gels and no heat to endure.

Afterward you get dressed and carry on with your day. There is no recovery period and no restriction on what you do next, which is why plenty of people book around school runs or on the way home.

  4. Build the rhythm

This is the stage that decides whether red light therapy is worth it for you. The effects associated with photobiomodulation are cumulative, so a single session tells you very little. A steady weekly cadence over a couple of months gives you something honest to judge.

Come hydrated, keep skin clean and free of heavy lotion or sunscreen, and treat the appointment the way you would treat a standing walk or a training session: as an ordinary part of the week rather than a special event.

Know what you are supporting

Wickatunk families tend to value preventive health, and most people arrive with a specific goal rather than vague curiosity. These are the three that come up most often out here.

Red light therapy is supportive rather than curative, and results vary from person to person. Talk with your physician about anything you are being treated for. Every studied application is covered on our benefits guide.
