The school built on Monmouth Road in 1900 still stands, and the township museum is in the 18th-century Eden Woolley House on Deal Road.

Wanamassa

Wanamassa is a census-designated place of about 4,300 people at the northern end of Ocean Township, sharing the 07712 ZIP code with Wayside. Deal Road is the line between it and Oakhurst, and Deal Lake and Asbury Park are immediately north.

West Allenhurst

West Allenhurst lies immediately west of Allenhurst borough, strung along Norwood Avenue between Deal Lake and the Allenhurst station on the North Jersey Coast Line.

Allenhurst

Allenhurst is a borough of about a quarter of a square mile, built on Abner Allen's farm and incorporated in 1897. Its residential historic district of 412 contributing buildings went on the National Register in 2010, and the 1897 train station on the North Jersey Coast Line was listed separately in 1980.

Deal

Deal is a borough with a mile of coastline, of which only about 1,300 feet is municipal bathing beach. The Conover Pavilion at the foot of Phillips Avenue is the public end of it. Deal Lake, 158 acres and the largest in Monmouth County, closes off the northern edge.

Interlaken

Interlaken began in 1888 as Interlaken Farm, 364 acres bought by a Boston doctor, Francis Weld, who named it for the town in Switzerland between the lakes. It became a borough in 1922. The avenues ending in mere are named for lakes in northern England and the cross streets for islands in the Hebrides.
