Route 33 does the whole job, and once you are past the Route 34 junction it is a plain, flat twenty minutes with a handful of lights and nothing to think about.

Shark River Hills
Shark River Hills opened in 1923 as a summer resort development and is now a census-designated place along the north bank of the Shark River. The township's municipal marina sits there, and the 946 acres of Shark River Park run west from it.

Neptune City was created out of Neptune Township in 1881 and sits on the north bank of the Shark River. Memorial Park on Riverview Avenue takes up its riverfront, with a beach on the river, a playground, a pavilion and bocce courts.

- Which part of Route 33 slows down?
- The section between Route 18 and Route 34 is where it bunches up, at the end of the school day and again around five. Outside those two windows it moves properly.
- Is there a faster route than Route 33?
- Not really. Route 66 rejoins Route 33 a few miles west, so it saves nothing, and the Parkway sends you in the wrong direction entirely. Route 33 is the road.
- Is this workable around a shift at Jersey Shore University Medical Center?
- It is a straight run west along Route 33 from the hospital. The shift pattern is usually more of a constraint than the traffic, and we can generally fit an appointment either side of one.
- Do you see people from Ocean Grove?
- Regularly. Ocean Grove is part of Neptune Township, and the drive is the same one — out to Route 33 and west from there.
