- The way there
- Route 9 south, Route 528 west
Route 528 across is pines and back road most of the way, and then Route 9 for the last part, which is the only stretch that ever costs you time.
Everyone who lives in Jackson keeps a private map of which roads to avoid in July, and most of it is downstream of Six Flags and the Route 537 corridor. Coming to us, you get to skip that argument. Route 528 runs east across the top of the township through the pines and the horse properties, meets Route 9, and that is the trip. Most of it is a genuinely pleasant drive, which is not a sentence anyone writes about the Route 9 corridor.
What is actually here
One room, one NovoTHOR bed, by appointment. It is not a spa and there is no gym attached — you come in, the door closes, the bed treats your whole body at once, and you leave. Most of what we hear from Jackson is ordinary: knees that complain after a shift, backs that have spent the weekend on a mower, shoulders that never quite settle after a long season of somebody’s travel sports. The bed is FDA-cleared for temporary relief of minor muscle and joint pain and for increasing local blood circulation, and that is the claim we make for it.
Neighborhoods and areas within Jackson
Cassville
Rova Farms opened near Cassville in July 1934, a Russian-American cooperative on 1,440 wooded acres founded by the Russian Consolidated Mutual Aid Society. A statue of Alexander Pushkin went up in its memorial park in 1949, and the Cassville crossroads historic district joined the National Register in 1982.
Colliers Mills
Colliers Mills sits inside the wildlife management area that carries its name, roughly 12,900 acres spread across Jackson and Plumsted townships. Success Lake, Turnmill Pond and the field trial grounds draw anglers, birdwatchers and dog handlers through the year.
Jacksons Mills
Jackson Mills grew up around a sawmill owned by William Jackson, the man the township may be named for. Jackson Mills Lake still sits at the center of it, with the township Veterans Memorial Garden on its shore and County Route 526 running past.
Saint Vladimirs
St. Vladimir's Memorial Church was begun in 1938 at the direction of Archbishop Vitaly, marking the 950th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus. Archimandrite Cyprian painted the interior frescoes, the iconostasis follows the one in the Moscow Kremlin's Dormition Cathedral, and the feast day falls on the last Sunday in July.
Questions from Jackson
- What is the best way out of Jackson?
- Route 528 east to Route 9 north covers most of the township. If you are down toward Cassville or the Colliers Mills side, Route 571 works just as well and the difference comes to a couple of minutes.
- Does Six Flags traffic affect the drive?
- Only if your route crosses Route 537 on a summer weekend or during the October event season. Route 528 sits north of all that, so most of the township can ignore it entirely.
- Is it easier to come mid-day?
- Yes. The Jackson end of the trip is quiet at any hour; it is Route 9 through Howell that thickens up after four. Late morning is the easiest hour of the day to make this drive.
- What does a session actually feel like?
- Warm and very bright, and that is about the whole of it. You lie down, the bed runs, you get up. No needles, no heat you would call uncomfortable, and nothing to recover from afterwards.
